Data Umbrella is a global community dedicated to supporting underrepresented individuals in data science. They welcome participants of all skill levels to explore and join upcoming events. To enhance accessibility and organization, Data Umbrella aimed to create an Events Board on their website- a centralized hub for hosting and showcasing data science-related events, both their own and those from the broader community.
The project needed both light and dark modes while maintaining a visual connection to Data Umbrella's brand. I also faced stakeholder requests for complex sign-up forms that were overwhelming users.
2. Designed both light and dark mode versions that felt connected but not identical
3. Built and tested multiple versions of the newsletter sign-up form
4. Ran remote usability tests with real users completing 5 key tasks
5. Made all colors and text meet WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines

Standing up for users sometimes means pushing back on stakeholder requests. By showing research results and multiple design options, I was able to advocate for a better user experience while still meeting business needs.
